Nurse Specialist, Te Puaruruhau, Starship Children’s Health

Full-time position, 40 hours per week
Fixed Term contract until 24 December 2017

Te Puaruruhau is an internationally-recognised centre of excellence in child protection practice. We are co-located with the ADHB Family Violence Team, the national Shaken Baby Prevention Program, Police and Child Youth and Family to provide a unique service addressing the child protection needs of New Zealand’s most vulnerable children and young people and their families.

We are currently seeking a nurse specialist for a fixed term contract to cover parental leave, from November 2016 until the end of December 2017.


The successful applicant will have a rare opportunity to contribute and gain experience and expertise in a broad range of child protection practice and become familiar with close collaboration with Child Youth and Family and the Police. Induction, training and skilled supervision will be provided by a dynamic, experienced and highly supportive multi-disciplinary team.

The successful applicant will have experience in working with children and young people and their families. The ability to work both within a multi-disciplinary team and autonomously is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, good support systems, IT knowledge and an understanding of family centred care and bicultural practice.

The position includes being part of on an on call multi-disciplinary after-hours roster, covering week nights and weekends for forensic examinations. 


·         Clean and full drivers licence is essential

·         A relevant post-graduate qualification or Master’s Degree
